Finally, after a series of never ending leaks and teasers, Chevrolet has officially unveiled the 2014 Corvette Stingray. The seventh-generation Corvette doesn’t look too bad at all as the US Carmaker promises to provide the “perfect balance of technology, design and performance.”
The new Stingray packs an evolutionary design with a long ventilated hood made out of carbon fiber, front fender vents, a removable ‘double bubble’ roof and HID headlights with integrated LEDs. Seen from the back, we notice a prominent rear spoiler, a four-tailpipe exhaust system and Camaro-inspired taillights.
The interior of the Corvette boasts a significantly improved design and higher quality materials. Among some of the most important features we have the premium leather upholstery, carbon fiber and aluminum trim as well as dual eight-inch displays which are easily customizable. Customers can also pick between two new seats that feature a lightweight magnesium frame for exceptional comfort and support.
Under the bonnet, the 2014 Corvette Stingray has a new 6.2-liter LT1 V8 engine with direct injection, continuously variable valve timing and an 11.5:1 compression ratio. It churns out around 450 HP – 336 kW and 609 Nm – 450 lb-ft of torque which is pretty much enough to send the car screaming from 0 to 100 Km/h in less than 4 seconds and reach a top speed of 250 Km/h ( with an average return 26+ mpg highway (US) )
Notably, the model sits on a new aluminum frame which delivers an optimal 50/50 weight balance for unparalleled handling. It also features “carbon-nano” composite underbody panels as well as composite fenders, doors and rear quarter panels. All of this makes the Stingray as light as possible, and for those who want to all a little twist to the story, Corvette also offers an optional Z51 Performance Package that adds an electronic limited-slip differential, a dry-sump oiling system and an improved differential / transmission cooling system.
There’s no word on the price tag of this beauty but the 2014 Corvette Stingray will hit the dealershops in late 2013
